As a former athlete, I am easily drawn to capturing the movement and energy the human form can take on. I think the fluid motion of veins in marble are an interesting suject to use to mesh with that energy. I'm also inspired by the frozen moment when time feels like it nearly stops when you're really immersed in something, almost fossilized.
